Located at the tip of Panay province, Philippines, 450 km south-west of Manila,

Attractions
The most famous part of Boracay is its 4 kilometer stretch of the finest, most
pristine white sand beaches, White Beach, where the color of the sea blends
with that of the sky during the day and the white sands glimmer at night. So

natural beauty. Boracay's attractions do not stop at its natural beauty. A wide

Currency
Currency used in the Island, like in the rest of the Philippines, is the Philippine
peso. Exchange rate is approximately 56 Pesos to one US dollar. Foreign exchange
services are available on the Island.

Getting to/from Boracay
Boracay can be reached by plane from Manila and Cebu City to either Caticlan
or to Kalibo Airport
From Manila
One may opt to go via Caticlan (Asian Spirit or Seair), the jump-off point to Boracay on Panay Island, or via Kalibo (Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines), the capital of Aklan Province, from which one needs to take a coaster or shuttle bus for the 1½-hour ride to Caticlan. From Caticlan, Boracay Island is a 20-minute boat ride. Boat ride cost, inclusive of travel from airport, is approximately US$2.00. If you are coming from Kalibo, a package cost of US$5.00 is offered for the shuttle to Caticlan, inclusive of boat ride to Boracay.Flying time to Caticlan or Kalibo is approximately one hour, departing from the Manila Domestic Airport at a cost of approx. US$ 100.-. Be prepared to pay approximately US$ 3.00 at the airport for the airport tax. Flight details as follows:

Flights to Kalibo, the capital of Aklan Province, are available 6 times per week on 2 private carriers, i.e. Mindanao Express and Cebu Pacific. From Kalibo, one needs to take a 1½-hour bus ride to Caticlan, the jump-off point to Boracay on Panay Island. Boracay Island is a 20-minute boat ride from Caticlan.
Since recently, there is a daily flight on SEAIR straight into Caticlan Airport.From Overseas
If you are coming from overseas and solely wanting to go to Boracay, it is best to take the international carrier that will conveniently connect you to any of the above flights (if your flight arrives at Manil Int'l latest at 1 p.m. you will be able to catch a connecting flight to Boracay (from the Domestic Airport) the same day (departing at about 3.30 p.m.).
Health Concerns
Basic medical care is offered by a small hospital on the Island equipped for
minor illnesses only. There is no Malaria known to occur in Boracay.
Language
In addition to Tagalog and other local dialects, English is widely spoken.
Moving Around
The best way to travel in the Island is on foot, especially while exploring
the white beach. If you need to go inland and/or travel some distance, tricycle
rides are available at around US$ 0.50 per head.
Religion
The religion in the Philippines, including Boracay, is predominantly Roman Catholic.
Church services are conducted regularly by the Boracay parish priest.
